<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a patient information sorting device which properly sorts patient information every unit information regardless of the arrangement forms of the patient information. <P>SOLUTION: A CPU of a conversion device sets a separating character 130 in a memory 130 based on the operation of a controller by a user, sets character recognition area information 132, and performs character recognition processing on a character recognition area shown by the information 132 to a medical image based on medical image data 32. The CPU judges the separating character 130 included in a character recognition result 134 acquired by the character recognition processing and splits the character recognition result 134 every separating character 130. Then, the CPU sorts the split character recognition result 134 in order in each section of a patient information assignment table 136.
