PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mass spectrometer for efficiently facilitating electron capture dissociation by bringing electrons into contact with ions without being influenced by a high-frequency electric field or magnetic field for moving the ions. SOLUTION: A light radiation hole 27 is bored in a ring electrode 21 constituting an ion trap 2, and light emitted from a light source part 28 is made to impinge on the ring electrode 21 through the light radiation hole 27. Thereby, photoelectrons are generated from the ring electrode 21, and reach an ion capture space 24 in an extremely short time. Accordingly, the photoelectrons are barely influenced by a high-frequency electric field by the ring electrode 21 and its major part can come into contact with the ions in the capture space 24.
