PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To selectively control the initializing operation of an engine part at the time of restoring from an energy saving state in an image forming apparatus.
SOLUTION: When a standby mode is set, information in the EEPROM 10 of a main body is copied in the non-volatile memory 18 of a cartridge 17. When a fixed time elapses while keeping the standby mode, an energy saving mode is started. When restoring from energy saving is required, a CPU 7 for the main body is started. The CPU 7 for the main body reads the non-volatile memory 18 of the cartridge 17 and compares it with data in the EEPROM 10. When all the data coincide, it is judged that the cartridge 17 is not exchanged in the midst of energy saving mode, and the initializing operation of the photoreceptor is not performed. Therefore, restoring operation is completed soon and the apparatus is shifted to a standby state. When the data do not coincide, it is judged that the cartridge is exchanged or changed in the midst of energy saving, and the initializing operation of the engine including a photoreceptor is performed in the same manner as that after a power source is turned on.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
