PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic pressure control device for a belt type continuously variable transmission capable of reducing generation of excess pump pressure and improving fuel consumption. SOLUTION: In this belt type continuously variable transmission comprising a primary clamp chamber and a secondary clamp chamber respectively mounted on a primary pulley and a secondary pulley, and communicated with each other through a communication passage, and a switch valve mounted on the communication passage for switching hydraulic pressure introduced to the primary clamp chamber and the secondary clamp chamber, the switch valve selects a higher hydraulic pressure out of the hydraulic pressure of a primary piston chamber and the hydraulic pressure of a secondary piston chamber, and introduces the pressure into the primary clamp chamber and the secondary clamp chamber.
