PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus, an image processing method, and a program capable of easily converting image data in preparation for various dropout colors so as to obtain desired image data at a high speed without the need for the provision of a special reading apparatus. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus includes a LUT 26c that is used for converting image data into image data for print out in the CMYK colors, which are outputted from a color CCD for receiving a reflected light from an original lighted up by a light source and separating the light into each of RGB color components. In a standard LUT mode, the LUT 26c converts the RGB colors into the CMYK colors on the basis of standard LUT parameters. Upon the receipt of a parameter revision request from a client PC 40, the mode is shifted to a user LUT mode, LUT parameters are revised into dropout purpose LUT parameters. The revised LUT 26c converts the RGB image data into dropout image data resulting from eliminating prescribed dropout colors from the RGB image data. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
