PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rupture method of a steel material, capable of rupturing the steel material by force (force of about 250 kgfm) of a degree of striking by a hammer by a person, by injecting a liquid refrigerant into a surface of an object to be ruptured. SOLUTION: After forming a V notch on the surface of the object (a finger part 2 of a steel finger joint 1) to be ruptured, a cover 5 is put on so as to cover this V notch, and the vicinity of the V notch is cooled by injecting the liquid refrigerant from a nozzle 6 in the cover 5, and afterwards, this V notch is ruptured by imparting impact from an external part to the finger part 2.
