<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive image recording material adaptable to a heat mode, having large dissolution discrimination, excellent in development latitude, and excellent also in chemical resistance. <P>SOLUTION: The positive image recording material adaptable to a heat mode has on a support a recording layer containing a high-molecular compound which includes a structural unit represented by formula (I), wherein part or all of phenolic hydroxyl groups which the structural unit includes have been modified with a substituent having an unshared electron pair bonding site and a hydrogen atom capable of hydrogen bond, and capable of forming thermally reversible two or more hydrogen bonds, and an infrared absorbing agent.
