<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular lighting system capable of preventing dazzlement by an oncoming vehicle or the like even when an abnormality occurs in an adaptive front-lighting system (AFS) to follow and change the irradiation direction of lamp beams corresponding to the traveling state of a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: The vehicular lighting system comprises a swivel means 120 and a leveling means 130 to deflect the irradiation direction of a lamp 110, a light distribution changing means 140 to change the irradiated light distribution of the lamp into the main beams and the sub beams, and a control means 1 which is connected to these means via signal transmission passages S2, S3 and S4 to control each means according to the traveling state of the vehicle. When the control means 1 detects any abnormality of the swivel means 120, the leveling means 130, or the signal transmission passages S2-S4, it performs the control to forcibly change the light distribution of the lamp 11 to the sub beams by the light distribution changing means 140.
