PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique by which operation for placing an original having larger size than an original platen on the original platen is facilitated and operability is improved. SOLUTION: An original cover 6 is positioned at a plurality of opening positions with reference to an original platen glass 2. Namely, the turning center of the original platen glass 2 and a hinge 7 is constituted of two turning parts A1 and A2, and a narrow part 1b communicating with the turning parts A1 and A2. In the case of setting the original having smaller size than the original platen glass 2, the projecting part 7a of the hinge 7 turns in the turning part A2, and in the case of setting the original having larger size than the original platen glass 2, the projecting part 7a is moved to the turning part A1 through the narrow part 1b and turns in the turning part A1.
