PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engagement device capable of being suitably changed from an engagement position to an opening position, as well as a transfer tool employing a structure of the engagement device. SOLUTION: The transfer tool A is provided with an engagement device X which relatively rotates the hanging wall 11 on the transfer tool body 1 side and the side walls 21 on an arm 2 side to sequentially pressure contact a slide contact edge 24 from one end part 14a of a guide edge 14 to the other end part 14b, to gradually move the engagement surface 23 in the width direction of the engagement surface 13 to execute a relative retreating operation S for relatively retreating both engagement elements 13, 23.
