PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire capable of preventing the degradation of the braking performance on a wet road surface while suppressing the air column resonance generated in a main groove extending in the circumferential direction. SOLUTION: The groove depth of a main groove 8 extending in the tire circumferential direction in the tread surface is set to be shallower than at least one remaining part in the tire circumferential direction within a ground contact surface when 50% load of the maximum loading capacity specified by JATMA at the pneumatic pressure of 180 kPa, and the transverse sectional area of the main groove 8 is substantially the same in the whole area of the ground contact surface.
