PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas-blast circuit breaker enhancing insulation recovery capability between electrodes without increasing the size thereof, and of improving breaking performance. SOLUTION: This gas-blast circuit breaker is provided with: a coil 21 for rotatively driving an arc between an electrode rod 15 and a moving electrode 17 by electromagnetic force; and a puffer compression device 18 for accumulating the pressure of an arc-extinguishing gas in conjunction with a current breaking operation to spray the pressure-accumulated arc-extinguishing gas to the arc. In addition, the gas-blast circuit breaker is provided with an insulation nozzle member 31 for limiting a rotative drive range. By rotatively driving the arc along a taper surface 31b of the insulation nozzle member 31, expansion of the arc in the circumferential direction is suppressed. By rotatively driving the arc along the taper surface 31b, the arc is brought into a state where it is easily directly hit by the arc-extinguishing gas, and the arc-extinguishing gas is radially sprayed to the arc over a wide range of an arc space.
