The invention consists of compounds having the general formula <FORM:1000522/C2/1> in which R1, R2 and R3 are the same different and are hydrogen or methyl, n is one or two, and the symbols R represent independently either a hydrogen atom or with the adjacent symbol R, a single bond and especially the compounds wherein the group <FORM:1000522/C2/2> is acrylyl, methacrylyl, angelyl, tiglyl, crotonyl or seneciyl, and the group <FORM:1000522/C2/3> is isopropylcyclohexylmethyl, perillyl, cuminyl or 2 - (4 - iso - propenyl - 1 - cyclohex - 1 - enyl) ethyl. The compounds are made by reaction of the alcohol of the formula <FORM:1000522/C2/4> with a compound of the formula <FORM:1000522/C2/5> in which X is a chlorine or bromine atom, hydroxyl or a lower alkoxyl radical and particularly by the reaction of the alcohol with an acid chloride or bromide in an inert solvent medium and in the presence of sufficient of a tertiary organic base to combine with a hydrochloric acid formed in the reaction, or by the reaction of the alcohol with an ester at the boiling point in the presence of a transesterification catalyst, preferably in the presence of a polymerization inhibitor. In the examples the following compounds are prepared: cuminyl acrylate and methacrylate, 4-isopropyl crylohexyl-methyl acrylate methacrylate, crotonate; perillyl acrylate, crotonate, methacrylate, 2-methyl but-2-enoate; homoperillyl acrylate. The stabilizer employed in the preparation is hydroquinone.ALSO:Perfumery compositions comprise one or more of the compounds of the general formula <FORM:1000522/A5-A6/1> in which R1, R2 and R3 are the same or different and are hydrogen or methyl, n is one or two and R represent independently either hydrogen or with an adjacent R, a single bond, or with other perfumes together with any of the conventional adjuvants e.g. organic or aqueous solvents. |
