A printed film has an adhesive coating applied to one side by means of a carrier film. The adhesive is radiated through a mask with the required pattern so that certain areas are hardened while the adhesive remains active in others. Metallization is then applied to the adhesive areas by a thermo-transfer process, by cold pressing or by hot pressing.
