<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having two or more process units and provided with a sealing member automatic seal breaking sequence eliminating a step to extract a sealing member for a process unit when a user starts use of the brand new state process unit and by which a service life of each process unit of the image forming apparatus is not shortened more than necessary when extracting the sealing member. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with: a judging means judging whether the sealing member 46 of a specified process unit 7 is driven and broken according to the judgement result of a detecting means M of two or more process units 7 when the seal breaking sequence is executed in the sealing member 46; a judging means judging whether to drive and rotate an image carrier 1 of a specified process unit 7; a judging means judging whether to drive and rotate a transfer material carrier 11; and a judging means judging whether to break the seal of the sealing member in a first position or in a second position in the transfer material carrier 11. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
