PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an accurate light transmittance easily without performing correction calculations, even for a high numerical aperture lens. SOLUTION: A first lens 11 on the light source side and a second lens 12 on the optical detector side, at least each of which is set to be a lens to be measured, are placed so that they face each other in the optical path of collimated measurement light. The optical detection surface 6 of an optical detector 7, of which the optical detection efficiency reaches becomes maximum when light enters nearly perpendicularly, is placed nearly perpendicular to a common optical axis of the first and second lens 11, 12 and so that the measurement light passed through the first and second lens 11, 12 can be received. While the second lens 12 is moved along the common optical axis X, the amount of light of the measurement light irradiated on the optical detector 7 is measured. The light transmittance of the lens to be measured is determined, on the basis of data on the maximum amount of light, when the measured amount of light of the measurement light becomes maximum.
