<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor capable of securing air tightness and an insulating property in a sealing layer, at ambient temperature and in high temperature zones. <P>SOLUTION: The first packing 10 is arranged on the sealing layer 52 containing no binder to prevent leakage of inorganic powder of the sealing layer 52. Talc is preferably used as the inorganic powder of the sealing layer 52 to secure the insulating property and heat resistance in the ambient temperature and high temperature zones, and the first packing 10 is formed of a mica sheet.
