PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylindrical linear motor producing high thrust while reducing torque pulsation and cogging torque, and to provide an electromagnetic suspension and a vehicle employing it. SOLUTION: The cylindrical linear motor 100 comprises a stator 110, and a moving element 130 arranged through a gap to the stator 110 and movable linearly to the stator 110. The stator 110 consists of a stator core 114 having a stator salient pole 114T, and a three-phase stator winding 114C inserted into slots formed in the stator core 114. The moving element 130 comprises a plurality of permanent magnets 136 secured to a moving element core 132. Assuming the pitch of the stator salient pole 114T isτs and the pitch of the permanent magnet 136 isτp, following relation is satisfied;τp:τs=9:9±1. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
