PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead-acid storage battery of a long service life which prevents a negative electrode ear or the upper part of a negative electrode lattice plate from thinning to cause the end of a lifetime by active materialization as seen in the lead-acid storage battery for an automobile used for idling stop. SOLUTION: This lead-acid storage battery uses a Pb-Ca based alloy lattice plate containing 0.6 to 2.0 wt% of Sn for the negative electrode lattice plate using a dilute sulphuric acid containing 2 to 50 g/l of Al in sulfate conversion for an electrolytic solution. The lead-acid storage battery has the long service life because negative electrode deterioration caused by sulfation or the like by making an appropriate amount of Al contained in the electrolytic solution. Furthermore, the potential of the negative electrode lattice plate is increased because the appropriate amount of Sn has been contained in the negative electrode lattice plate composed of a Pb-Ca based alloy, and even in a state that sulfation has progressed, the ear of the negative electrode lattice plate or the like is not broken due to its active materialization and thinning, and the sudden end of the service life is prevented.
