PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely detect faults caused in a loop where a plurality of electronic devices are connected in series. SOLUTION: An upstream fault detecting means detects frame errors that occur until the frames transmitted from disks 41 to 4n are received by a downstream 51 and determines that an upstream 50 side including disks in which the frame errors that occur is within the range A of the upstream 50 side receiving the influence of a fault X. A downstream fault detecting means detects frame errors that occur until the frames transmitted from the upstream 50 are received by the disks 41 to 4n and determines that the downstream 51 side including the disks in which the frame errors occur is within the range B of the downstream 51 side receiving the influence of the fault X. A fault specifying means determines that the fault X exists at the boundary part between the range A of the upstream 50 side determined by the upstream fault detecting means and the range B of the downstream 51 side determined by the downstream fault detecting means.
