PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless communication apparatus which suppresses power consumption in accordance with the situation. SOLUTION: A notebook-sized PC 10 is capable of using a plurality of transmission/reception systems of MIMO communication or the like. It is judged whether an external power source 312 or a battery 313 supplies power to a power source circuit 314 and in accordance with a result of the judgement, a communication mode is switched. More concretely, when using the external power source 312, a switch 316 is connected, thereby performing MIMO communication capable of bulk communication or when using the battery 313, the switch 316 is opened to shut off a power supply system to a transmission/reception unit including an antenna 26, thereby reducing power consumption.
