PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single-component development device, in which toner on a toner carrier which is supplied for development is charged to the desired amount of electrostatic charges with high charging efficiency, while restraining the developer deterioration, and toner charging performance can be retained over a long time. SOLUTION: The single-component development device has a toner charging member 17, disposed downstream of a regulating member 15 and upstream of a development area D in the direction of the movement of the surface of the toner carrier 12 so as to be in contact with the toner carrier 12. The toner-charging member 17 is a polymer film supported by a fixed electrode 20. The surface resistivity of the polymer film is in the range of 1×10<SP>5</SP>Ω/SQUARE to 1×10<SP>11</SP>Ω/SQUARE. The resistance of a contact area N between the fixed electrode 20 of the polymer film and the toner carrier is 1×10<SP>4</SP>Ωto 1×10<SP>10</SP>Ω. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
