PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion machine avoiding drop of power generation efficiency when pressure ratio of a system fluctuates and rotation speed is forcedly fluctuated by an external factor. SOLUTION: In a swash plate type expansion machine, expansion ratio is controlled by comparing pressure in a cylinder bore 16 right before completion of expansion stroke and pressure detected at a position of a downstream of the expansion machine and changing pressure of working fluid in a crank chamber 6 to equalize the same and changing inclination angle of the swash plate 11. Flow rate is controlled by sliding a spool valve 76 in an axial direction front and rear in a rotary valve main body 50 to open and close suction ports 52, 54, 56 and changing angles suitable for suction stroke.
