PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for estimating an amount of a carbon deposit to a ceiling part at a carbonizing chamber in a coke oven and an estimating apparatus enabling to estimate an amount of carbon deposit to a ceiling part of a carbonizing chamber of a coke oven and easily making a judgement of an action after that. SOLUTION: The method is an estimating method of an amount of carbon deposit to the ceiling part of the carbonizing chamber of the coke oven and comprises a step for measuring penetration resistance in a longitudinal direction at the ceiling region of the carbonizing chamber by a resistance measuring means and a step for estimating the amount of carbon deposit to the ceiling part of the carbonizing chamber based on the resistance value observed in the step for measuring the resistance.
