<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame-retardant resin composition retaining performances of a conventional halogen-free flame-retardant resin composition, preventing resin deposits around discharge nozzles or foaming in production of electric wires or cables, etc., thereby improving operation efficiency such as molding processability or long-term stable operation and appearance, surface loss, mechanical strength, etc., of products and withstanding high-speed moldability and to provide the electric wires or power cables using the composition. <P>SOLUTION: The flame-retardant resin composition is characterized as comprising 100 pts.mass of a resin component containing 100-50 mass% of at least one kind of ethylene copolymer (A) selected from the following (A1) to (A3) and 0-50 mass% of another polyolefinic resin (B) and ≤30 pts.mass of a functional group-containing olefin polymer (C), 30-250 pts.mass of an inorganic flame retardant (D) and 0.1-5 pts.mass of at least one kind of additive (E) selected from a hydroxy higher resin acid metal salt or sugarcane wax.
