PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically stop an engine when a vehicle stops automatically although the driver does not put on the brakes. SOLUTION: In a vehicle provided with an idle stop function and a low vehicle speed tracking running function, when it is judged in a step S220 that a flag F2 is a value 1 during the automatic stop of the vehicle, it is judged in a step S240 whether or not all the engine stopping conditions except for putting on the brakes by the driver are realized. When it is judged that all the engine stopping conditions except for putting on the brakes by the driver are realized, ignition of each cylinder of the engine or fuel injection is stopped so as to stop the engine automatically in a step S260. As mentioned above, since a condition that the driver puts on the brakes is excluded from the engine stopping conditions when the vehicle stops automatically, it is possible to stop the engine automatically even when the vehicle stops automatically although the driver does not put on the brakes.
