PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a block forming method suppressing the deformation of a contact surface formed at a block for a belt. SOLUTION: In the method of forming the block 14 constituting the belt wound around a plurality of pulleys and provided with a contact surface 26 contacting the pulley, a plate-like material 50 is pressurized in the thickness direction to perform forming processing, and the plate-like material 50 is blanked to form the block 14. In this case, a recess 27A with a depth in the thickness direction of the plate-like material 50 is formed in a region to be blanked as the block, of the plate-like material 50, and then the plate-like material 50 formed with the recess 27A is pressurized in the thickness direction to perform forming processing.
