PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable inertia device enlarging a varying range of inertia without size increase, and capable of simplifying calculation needed for control. SOLUTION: In the variable inertia device, a cylinder 2 is arranged on a rotating body 1 such that it is extended along a radial direction. An object 3 with mass is arranged in the cylinder 3 such that it can slide like a piston. Of two liquid chambers 5 and 6 partitioned off at both ends of the cylinder 2 by the object 3 with mass, pipings 7 for supplying and discharging a working liquid are respectively connected to the liquid chamber 5, and pipings 9 for supplying and discharging a working liquid are respectively connected to the liquid chamber 6. Of the liquid chambers 5 and 6, one liquid chamber is enlarged while reducing the other liquid chamber to vary inertia of the rotating body 1. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
