PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: a drainage pump set up in a conventional air conditioner causes grating noise, and lacks in quiet. SOLUTION: The vertical-type centrifugal pump comprises a casing 19 having a suction port 24 and a delivery port 26, a cover 21 which is connected to the casing 19, and demarcates together with the casing 19 a pump chamber 20 communicating with the suction port 24 and the delivery port 26, and a rotor 22 rotatably held in the pump chamber 20. In the cover 21, a through hole 30a, a slit 30b, and an outer cylindrical part 23 are provided. In the cover 21, the through hole 30a is made to pass through a spindle 15a of a driving motor 15 connected to the rotor 22. The slit 30b is formed close to the through hole 30a, and the inside of the pump chamber 20 is allowed to communicate with the outside through the slit 30b.
