The active sound insulator is used in the air intake channel (2) of a combustion engine fitted with a sensor (16) linked to a control unit controlling a converter (8). It has a heat- and damp-proof membrane (7) acoustically coupled to the intake air flow (AS) in the air intake channel. The surface (9) of the membrane is displaced by the converter in bending vibrations.
