Production of images on the surfaces of natural stones involving:selection of a stone in accordance with its rock type, color and size, pretreatment of the seleted stone with removal of unwanted debris, and grinding and polishing. The stone is then subjected to laser treatment, the relevant laser parameters are determined in relation to the stone type and its surface condition, and the required motif is reproduced on the stone by traversing the laser beam over its surface.
