<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent power loss from increasing unnecessarily and to sufficiently perform lubrication at a mutual engagement part of both gears when power is transmitted from an internal combustion engine to a propeller shaft. <P>SOLUTION: The outboard motor 5 is provided with driven gears 25, 26 engaged with a driving gear 24; and an oil storage part 40 for storing a lubricant 38 so as to immerse the driving gear 24 and the driven gears 25, 26 in an oil. An oil pump 41 is provided. A suction passage 46 for communicating the oil storage part 40 with a suction part of the oil pump 41 is formed and a return passage 51 for communicating a delivery part of the oil pump 41 with the oil storage part 40 is formed.
