<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To elongate a battery lifetime by minimizing radio signal origination by means of an ID tag or a similar unit on an authenticated side. <P>SOLUTION: When authenticating by exchanging an authentication identifier assigned to a unit 1 on the authenticated side between the unit 1 on the authenticated side and a unit 2 on the authenticating side, there are executed a step for originating, from the unit 2 on the authenticating side, request information including a portion of the authentication identifier, to be authenticated in the unit 1 on the authenticated side; a step for receiving the request information originated from the unit 2 on the authenticating side, when the portion of the authentication identifier included in the received request information is internally existent in the authentication identifier assigned to the own-unit; a step for returning, from unit 1 on the authenticated side, the response information including a remaining portion of the authentication identifier assigned to the own-unit, in the unit 2 on the authenticating side; a step for receiving the response information returned from the above unit 1 on the authenticated side, and in the unit 2 on the authenticating side; a step for deciding whether or not the remaining portion of the authentication identifier included in the received response information corresponds to the authentication identifier to be authenticated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
