<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crystallized glass spacer for a field emission display (FED) which suppresses any static electrification by electric field application and has high fracture toughness so as to suppress any chipping or cracking. <P>SOLUTION: The crystallized glass spacer for FED is characterized by consisting essentially of, in terms of molar percentage, 20 to 50% of SiO<SB>2</SB>, 25 to 45% of TiO<SB>2</SB>, 20 to 50% of MgO+CaO+SrO+BaO+ZnO, 0 to 10% of B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>+Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>and 0 to 10% of ZrO<SB>2</SB>wherein as a main crystal, there is contained at least one crystal selected from among Ba<SB>X</SB>Ti<SB>8</SB>O<SB>16</SB>crystal (X=0.8 to 1.5), Ba<SB>2</SB>TiSi<SB>2</SB>O<SB>8</SB>crystal and TiO<SB>2</SB>crystal, as obtained by reduction crystallization heat treatment of SiO<SB>2</SB>-TiO<SB>2</SB>glass in hydrogen or a mixed atmosphere of hydrogen and nitrogen, at 600 to 900°C. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
