<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit voice data in which multi-channel voice signals are prediction coded and a compression rate is improved. <P>SOLUTION: An adding circuit 1a computes a sum signal (L+R) of stereophonic two channel signals L and R and a subtracting circuit 1b computes a difference signal (L-R). Difference computing circuits 11D1 and 11D2 computes differencesΔ(L+R) andΔ(L-R) which are the differences between the present and the previous time values. Prediction coding circuits (15D1, 15D2, 16D1 and 16D2) compute a plurality of predicted values of the differencesΔ(L+R) andΔ(L-R), compute each of the predicted residues between the plurality of predicted values and the differencesΔ(L+R) andΔ(L-R).
