摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight dimming device for a liquid crystal display apparatus and method, wherein uneven luminance produced on a liquid crystal display screen is made inconspicuous. SOLUTION: In the backlight dimming device, a first PWM signal generating portion 21 to generate a periodical PWM signal square wave, a second PWM signal generating portion 22 to generate a short square wave so as to divide the PWM signal generated in the first PWM signal generating portion 21 into a plurality of signals, and an inverter circuit 23 to drive a lamp 5 with the PWM signals, are arranged, wherein the PWM signal square wave composed of the plurality of short square waves is generated by signal multiplexing between the first PWM signal generating portion 21 and the second PWM signal generating portion 22, and the inverter circuit 23 drives the lamp 5 with the multiplexed PWM signal.
