PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent off-track writing caused by an impact from the outside. SOLUTION: An HDD 1 is provided with; a magnetic disk 11; an actuator 32 which moves a head element 12 on the magnetic disk; and an HDC/MPU 23 which prohibits writing to the magnetic disk by the head element in a short period of time AT1 in the case that a detected impact is determined to be larger than a reference level C1 and not larger than a high reference level C2, and also prohibits writing to the magnetic disk by the head element in a longer period of time AT2 in the case that the detected impact is determined to be larger than the high reference level.
