PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance production efficiency of a recording medium cartridge by efficiently inspecting welding quality in a device for inspecting welding quality of the recording medium cartridge. SOLUTION: A displacement between upper and lower shell halves 3 and 4 is measured with a measuring means 50 before welding, and a comparison means 60 compares a measured amount before welding obtained by the measurement with a predetermined reference amount before welding. A determining means 65 stops welding by determining that holding of the upper and lower shell halves is inferior when the measured amount before welding is larger than the reference amount before welding and welding is carried out by determining that holding of the upper and lower shell halves is good when the measured amount before welding is equal to or smaller than the predetermined reference amount before welding. After welding, the measuring means 50 measures position displacement again. The comparison means 60 compares a measured amount after welding obtained by the measurement with a predetermined reference amount after welding. The determining means 65 determines that welding is inferior when the measured amount after welding is larger than the reference amount after welding and determines that welding is good when the measured amount after welding is equal to or smaller than the reference amount after welding.
