<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protection member that is minimum in dimension and can absorb a surplus length without increasing the number of part items and assembling man-hours. <P>SOLUTION: This sheathing material 10 is constituted such that cylindrical units that form a penetration space are rotatably connected with each other and formed into a chain shape, and the linear body such as a cable is penetrated to the communicative penetration space. The sheathing material comprises a first chain 11 in which a plurality of the units 14 are rotatably connected to each other and unidirectionally bent; a second chain 12 in which the plurality of units 14 are rotatably connected to each other and unidirectionally bent; and an angle conversion unit 13 that is interposed between the first chain 11 and the second chain 12, and relay-connects the second chain 12 to the first chain 11 in a state that the second chain is axially rotated with respect to the first chain.
