<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motion picture coding method and a motion picture decoding method, that can avoid degradation in the coding efficiency of B-pictures, even when the number of the B-pictures inserted into between I-pictures or P-pictures increases, and the coding efficiency in direct mode can be made to improve. <P>SOLUTION: This method is provided with a coding control section 110 which preferentially determines pictures which becomes farthest from a previously coded picture, and rearranges each picture into the order to be encoded, when the coding order of a plurality of consecutive B-pictures located between I-pictures or P-pictures is considered in the display time order. Further, the method is provided with a mode selection section 109, which generates a movement vector of a block to be coded by performing the scaling to a forward movement vector, when coding in a direct mode is performed, in case of coding a block in the backward reference picture of a picture to be coded, and co-located with the block to be coded, when the forward motion vector has been used. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
