PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten read-out time in an imaging apparatus while preventing generation of noise caused by a parasitic load of a signal read-out line or a substrate bias effect. SOLUTION: A read-out current source section 27 can alter the magnitude of a read-out current. Load MOS groups 300a and 300b are operated simultaneously, read-out of a pixel signal is accelerated by feeding a combination current Ia+Ib (which is more than current Ia for determining potential) temporarily to a vertical signal line 18 such that read-out to a storage section 114 is settled within a predetermined time thus shortening the read-out time while suppressing longitudinal streak noise. The combined current is returned back to the current Ia for determining potential when the holding potential Vm at the storage section 114 reaches an appropriate level substantially corresponding to the pixel signal S0. Since the combined current has been got back to the current Ia for determining potential when the potential Vm at the storage section 114 is determined, voltage drop due to substrate bias effect occurring on a source line 309a is only that portion caused by the current Ia for determining potential. Consequently, impact of substrate bias effect is reduced and shading is prevented from increasing. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
