An updating system adapted to update the contents of a music database in a simple manner at a low cost in a terminal apparatus having the music database. There are included (i) a transmitter apparatus (20) that includes a transmission music database (21) for storing music database information comprising identification information and corresponding music information and that also includes broadcast means (23) for multiplexing the music database information from the database (21) with a broadcast wave for broadcast; and (ii) a terminal apparatus (30) that includes receiving means (33) for receiving the broadcast wave from the broadcast means (23), extracting means (34) for extracting the music database information from the received broadcast wave, and that further includes updating means (32) for storing the extracted music database information into a reception music database.
