<p>A waste treatment system 1 comprising a tank 2 comprising a primary settlement zone 3, a biological or activation zone 4, and a final settlement zone 5. The tank also comprises an inlet 6, an airlift 8, a sludge airlift 9, a diffuser 10, an air inlet tube to the diffuser 14 and a media support bag 11. The biological or activation zone contains media 11 for housing bacteria to facilitate biomass growth for aerobic digestion. The media are supported within the activation zone by the media support bag. Which is positioned between the diffuser and the surface of the liquid by means of a tether 15. The bag may be made from nylon and be in a pyramidal form. The bag may also allow the media to substantially spread out into an area defined by the side walls of the activation zone.</p> |
