A heat exchanger 1 comprises a stack 7 of spaced plates 9, 11, 13 and a first 3 and second 5 header connected to the plate stack 7 by tubes 21, 23, 27, 29, 31, 33. The plates 9, 11, 13 comprises spaced pairs of plates (fig 2) joined together and are separated by spaces 15, 17, 19. A first fluid flows though the plates 9, 11, 13 and a second fluid of equal pressure to or less than the first fluid flows over the plates. The tubes 21, 23, 27, 29, 31, 33 may be flexible and arranged to direct the first fluid in an angular direction (fig 8). The plates 9, 11, 13 may be connected to both headers 3, 5 by support members (83, figs 3 and 4) comprising a joint allowing rotational movement between the headers and the plates. At least one pusher bar (261, figs 10 and 11) may be connected to both headers 3, 5 by a hinge and permits rotational movement. The plates 9, 11, 13 may be arranged in a rectangle, radially (figs 5 - 7) with radial inner (161 and 163, fig 6 and 7) and radial outer (175 and 177, fig 6 and 7) headers, and the plates (191, 193, 197, fig 7) may be curved and arranged in an involute. Pins (67 and 69, fig 2) of a variety of shapes and/or orientation may be provided on the plates 9, 11, 13. |
