Method and device for fault diagnosis in controlled electrical drives

A method for error diagnosis in controlled electric drives in which an electric motor (1) is connected via at least one line to a power end stage (2) with a controller (5) transmitting control pulses to the end stage. If a too high power is detected, an emergency switch- off is triggered. Restarting then occurs for a preset duration. If power is again switched-off due to a too high current within a given duration, a short circuit is indicated and after a given time period the electric motor is blocked. An Independent claim is made for an arrangement for error diagnosis in an electric motor with which repeated emergency shut-offs are detected.
