Apparatus for growing bean sprouts comprises a cabinet 1 the side walls 6, 7 of which support two series of perforated trays 9, 10 for holding the beans and having their ends 11 spaced from the opposite wall, water being admitted to the cabinet through a shower head 2 under the control of a timer 3 and thermostat 4 and flowing through the cabinet in a sinuous path. The cabinet has a perforated base 15 and is substantially light proof. The water temperature is preferably between 60‹F. and 100‹F. and the water flows for approximately 20 minutes every four hours for 2¢ days. The ambient temperature in the region of the cabinet is maintained between 80‹F. and 100‹F. |
