FIELD: simplified process for making commercial products with properties of damask steel. ^ SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of embedding into surface layer of steel blank disintegrated fine-grain high-carbon or super high-carbon structures; thermally and mechanically acting upon embedded structure and blank for agitating disintegrated structures and surface layer of blank; after forming on sheet of viscous steel layer with properties of damask steel, cutting out said sheet, applying it onto surface of steel article and welding to it. Temperature range is limited during process of producing such articles in order to prevent occurring of other structural formations of crystals with predetermined properties. ^ EFFECT: lowered power consumption, possibility for producing articles with damask steel properties by embedding of ready structures of high-carbon steel into surface layer of steel sheet, possibility for mechanizing the whole process. ^ 2 cl |
