FIELD: working by cutting, disc and end milling cutters. ^ SUBSTANCE: cutting tip is indexed one and it has upper surface, lower surface and M identical lateral surfaces arranged between lower and upper ones. In plan view upper surface of cutting tip is in the form of M-sided polygon. Each lateral surface of polygon is arranged between two angular lateral surfaces, it is inclined outside from lower surface towards upper surface and it crosses upper surface in cutting edge arranged between two angular edges parallel relative to lower surface. In order to enhance working properties of cutting tip, cutting edge includes main cutting edge arranged between two trimming edges, each trimming edges abuts to angular edge. Each lateral surface includes at least two surfaces: first rear surface adjoined to main cutting edge and second rear surface joined with first rear surface along boundary line and crossing upper surface in two trimming edges. Number M is multiple to four; first rear surface has minimum size along width measured in direction normal to cutting edge near two trimming cutting edges and it has maximum size in central portion of cutting edge. ^ EFFECT: improved operational properties of cutting tip. ^ 11 cl, 8 dwg |
