Granules comprising fibers in a polyamide matrix produced by copolymerizing an at least trifunctional amine or carboxylic acid (I) and an amino carboxylic acid (IIa) or lactam (IIb) and optionally a diamine or dicarboxylic acid (III) comprise fibers whose average length is 80-100% of the granule length. Granules comprising fibers in a polyamide matrix produced by copolymerizing a compound (I) having at least three Z functions and an amino carboxylic acid of formula (IIa) or a lactam of formula (IIb) and optionally a diamine or dicarboxylic acid of formula (III) comprises fibers whose average length is 80-100% of the granule length: Z = NH2 or COOH; R2, R3 = optionally substituted 2-20C aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic hydrocabon groups optionally containing heteroatoms; X = NH2; Y = COOH. Independent claims are also included for: (1) production of the granules by mixing a molten star polymer matrix with continuous fibers or fibers whose length is at least 80% of the granule length, forming the mixture into a cane and cutting the cane to the desired granule size; (2) production of an article by melting the granules and shaping the molten material; (3) article produced as above.
|
