PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device of simple structure capable of detecting cross directional dimension of several kinds of recording mediums. SOLUTION: A metal spring slider is arranged in a side guide, and a plurality of conductor patterns arranged in a printed board are provided in a pressure plate, and cross directional dimension of the recording material is detected on the basis of the conduction pattern of the conductor to be changed in response to position of the side guide.
